Is it possible to modify the topology without having to shut down and restart every node? It takes way too long when I just need to add a link or node for a quick test.

Mpls nhrp

@keroger2k wrote:

Would there be any reason why 'mpls nhrp' would not work correctly in a VIRL instance? When I run 'mpls ip' using LDP everything works correctly, but I'm limited to hub/spoke technology with DMVPN. I would like to test DMVPN phase 3 which requires 'mpls nhrp' but when I attempt to do this, I no longer can pass traffic. It is probably a configuration issue on my part, but I'm just making sure there are no known issues or bugs with VIRL and this technology?

thank you,

So - umm, not sure if this is actually a sign, but the SSO is failing when attempting to checkout. So I decide to send an email, as directed at the bottom of the web site to ciscogroup@mediuscorp.com and guess what - it bounces.

Was able to run VIRL on packet.net today, but when trying to get VM Maestro, it is not in "download" folder.
In software tab it says for VM Maestro Windows 64 something "file is/will be available in that download folder". What is this "will be"? When? Should I do something for it?
Is there some other way to get VM Maestro of appropriate version?

Packet.net ulimited nodes license

Hello,
I am planning on buying an Academic version VIRL license to be used with Packet.net and one thing that VIRL promises is to deliver double the amount of nodes when using VIRL on Packet. I was wondering: Will that feature be persistent even if I create a server, set up VIRL, then delete the server and create another one later on?

Virl VMWare Crashes

@zekebashi wrote:

Hello,

Using the installation instructions in this link: http://virl-dev-innovate.cisco.com/workstation.php

I have Win10 Pro running on HP Compan 8200 Elite Convertible Mini-tower. I have 16GB of RAM on this box, set the memory for the VMWare to 8GB, enabled enabling VT-x in the BIOS, installed VMware Workstation 8.0.2 build-591240, and installed Virl.1.0.26..pc successfully. I tried to complete step 5: but my workstation keeps crashing. I even disabled Windows Firewall but that didn't help. I was wondering if anyone has ran into this issue or similar issue where their PC/workstation kept crashing and what resolution or fix they used.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can assist.

Much appreciated.

Best, ~zK

Good Afternoon,
I have had this problem with virl.0.9.293 esxi and now with new version virl.0.1.26 esxi, the ESXI OVA is running on SuperMicro Server with 108 Gigs Memory and 2 CPU processor cores. I am just understand why the below Traceback Messages keeps occuring. The error message (attached PDF file) appears when ever I make changes to the IOSvL2 vtp mode or vtp version and copy and past the vlans to any of the IOSvL2 devices. I am unable to access devices (no response), cannot extract configurations (view VM Meastro Console Message Screen below), can't shutdown the individual devices; I will have to terminate simulation and restart the simulation in order gain access, and also the shutdown progression message does not appear in the console window. The boot process for each devices appears when I start/restart the simulation.

Change Default Addressing of AutoNetKit

Is there a way to globally change the default values used in AutoNetKit? I want to make sure VIRL only assigns addresses in the 10.0.0.0/12 range in my topologies rather than the entire /8. Can this be done? Setting it manually every time I create a topology isn't an option.

VIRL License and Packet

@Nathan_Ollis wrote:

Trying to make sure that I am staying compliant...wondering how the verification takes place? For example, at work I had it installed on a host...I wanted to be able to use more easily at home though and Packet makes that a lot easier. From what I understand from that, the VIRL license is running on a VM locally and Packet is hosting the devices.

Now, I want to be able to use it on my laptop and desktop. Do I need to somehow "deactivate" the old one that was completely deleted from the host at work? Or does it go by how many licenses are active during that 7 day period? I misunderstood Packet at first and installed it on my work laptop, thinking the key was going to be "in the cloud."

Thanks!

Unable to access ASAv

@asytnik wrote:

Greetings all,

I am trying to access the ASAv splash page so I can practice ASDM but I am unable to do so.

Here is what I have done:

  1. Created ASAv
  2. Clicked the backdrop and changed the management network to "Shared Flat" Network. Now it is from my understanding from another thread that this should mean I should be able to access the ASA's management port, right?
  3. Fired up the simulation.
  4. I cannot ping or http to the management address 172.16.1.5x

I've gone into the ASA and brought up the management interface, gave it a name, security level 0, enabled http server etc.

Please help, thanks!

Terraform apply Hang

@Joshua_Kingsbury wrote:

I've been trying to get my VIRL server to publish across to the Packet.net cloud and from every apply that I've completed, local machine and through VIRL I find that it just hangs on salt-call state.sls openstack... Not sure where to even begin to troubleshoot this, I can SSH into the cloud machine and it works fine but from top and ps aux it doesn't appear to be doing anything and a remote connection terminates after installing the virl.vmrouters or something...

Is this an NTP issue? I am currently in the UK and the clock on the server is based in the US trying to call the eu servers (I think)...

It's been stuck like this for a good 2 and a bit hours now. I have an Academic License as I'm a university student if that affects anything.

Webservices not found when setting VM Maestro with VIRL on Packet

@musicomnibus wrote:

I have been able to setup VIRL on packet and can connect to it and use the web interface and works just fine.
I can connect to it via OpenVPN but when I try to set up VM Maestro Web Services to point to VIRL on Packet it gives me a "not found error" on all web services.

To test this, I copied the URL for each web service on my local server and the URL's exists as it prompts me for me username and password but when I copy the URL for VIRL on packet it gives me a 404.

I ran the VIRL on Packet instructions 3 times just to be sure it wasn't a fluke.
